Eva died the night of the escape in 2009. When they overpowered a guard, and took his gun, Eva was going to shoot Lydecker.
But sadly, he shot her first, killing her. She was the one start the escape, and was important to the X5's. Since her death, Max has never liked guns.
(Another note) Eva seems to have been conductive to the escape.

Jack was shown as one of the weaker X5's. When the X5's were being tested to see how long they could hold their breath underwater, Jack ran out, and almost drowned.
Jack was taken away in the throes of a seizure, and was left to die. Max later saw his body being used for dissection.
