Ben was the creative one of the X5's. When his brother Jack, had a seizure, and was given a picture of the Madonna, Ben invented The Blue Lady, the X5's religion. Each of the X5's gave him a tooth which he offered to the Blue Lady, to make her stronger. However, his faith is destroyed when she fails to save Jack.
Ben appears later in Seattle, killing people, then putting his barcode on the back of their necks, systematically killing himself over and over again.
Max catches up with him, and confronts him, telling him to stop the killing. However, Manticore comes after them, after Ben and Max get in a fight. Ben changes, but however his leg is broken, and he can't get away. He begs Max to kill him, which she does so, crying while she does it.
