Max was one of the X5's that suffered from seizures. It was fear that she might be left to die, and her body used for dissection that led the X5's to escape.
She apparently had some kind of special friendship with her "sister" Jondy. Jondy was the one that knelt by her when she was in the grips of a seizure.
Max ended up in Seattle, Washington, where she worked as a messenger at Jam Pony during the day, and a thief at night. It was her night job that lead her to Logan Cale, a cyber journalist. Logan promises her that he'll help her find her lost Manticore siblings. They share a friendship that turns into romance.
Unfortunately, Max was caught along with Zack at Manticore. She is still currently there, awaiting reprogramming.
